If Jesus came to earth and said ” I am the greatest man to ever walk the face of this earth””….would that be ego? I find that most often when we speak of ego…we are talking about someone else’s ego but really it is our ego and we don’t know it? What I mean is this: If I say ” I am the greatest man to ever walk the face of this earth”….many will be offended and say that I am arrogant and crazy etc but in reality it is they who are arrogant and crazy. Honestly…how arrogant and crazy is it that I cannot be what and who I say I am? It is they who have the ego because like Jesus or any spiritually evolved individual ..I may be speaking my simple truth. Without ego. Their ego tells them that my ego is speaking but in reality….it is their ego that cannot accept my statement because ego is competitive, petty and jealous? Oh…the ways of wisdom. When a person begins to evolve….they are beaten down by the very forces of nature and the universe itself (trials and tribulations) until the person cannot even raise their head without consciously acknowledging that they have indeed been beaten into submission and their own smallness and even nothingness is truly and completely understood. In this way the ego is subjugated to compassion, righteousness and the spiritual path. – The King
Go outside and catch a worm. Look at that worm…notice how it is one of… if not the…. “lowliest” creatures on earth. Think about that. A worm is a lowly creature. A worm is very low in regards to evolution. Pretty much on the bottom of the food chain. Now think about the fact that when you die…you will be food for that lowly worms relatives? I pondered this paradox while fishing one day. That lowly worm and I….a king….share the same fate and even worse….I will be food for a lowly worm. Now of course I’m talking about the body because I …we are souls…we never die and of course you could be cremated etc. There is a cycle that is illuminated by the lowly worm. The cycle of life and death. The cycle of reincarnation. There is irony in the fact that we are inevitably “cut down” to the level of the lowly worm. Since my food comes from the earth..I may be eating his relatives….and mine too? What I’m saying is….contemplation of the lowly worm gives one a more comprehensive perspective on life…..this life.
The bible says that a prophet is welcome everywhere but in his own home. There is another saying that says the same thing but not many have understood it from the perspective I am putting forth right now. Man secretly searches for masters in far away lands and God is beyond the skies…somewhere near infinity and eternity. Therefore a prophet is welcome everywhere but in his own home. You see…those in his own home cannot recognize him as a prophet. They cannot recognize him as a prophet because a prophet is near to God and God is far away? Now if the prophet travels abroad he will be recognized and treated like a prophet because he comes from afar. Oh yeah…that saying I mentioned is “one cannot see the forest because of the trees”.You no doubt have heard someone say “you should take a step back to get a better view” or “you are too close to the situation”.What they really mean is that near is far? It is the psychology of the masses. Near is far. The psychology is that man can talk about reality and even experience reality but in reality never comes “in contact” with reality. He subconciously and successfully avoids reality throughout his entire life. Near is urgent and pressing. Far is in the future and not so pressing. One has time. It is this idea that one has time that is the underlying principle in the unconcious avoidance of reality. It is also the reason that Jesus is praised in the abstract….I mean the people really don’t want to see Jesus because then they would have to face reality and not just talk about it.Jesus (in their minds) is far…therefore they are able to remain in a familiar, comfortable and safe environment..an environment that prevents them from being checked….an environment that does not upset their fragile eggshell mentalities. Man exists in a perpetual and eternal illusion. Exist has the prefix or word ex in it. Ex means something that used to be. Used to exist? Existed before but not anymore? Near is far.
